Cagliari

" And suddenly there is Cagliari ... It is strange and rather wonderful , not a bit like ... And it seems like Italy - Spain or Malta : not Italy ... Yet withal rather jewel -like : like a sudden rose- cut amber jewel naked at the depth of the vast indenture ... And that is Cagliari. "

D.H. Lawrence

Pearl of the South and capital of the Mediterranean, Cagliari is a seaside town, set like a gem in the beautiful Bay of Angels . Built on seven hills like Rome, Istanbul and Lisbon , Cagliari is the starting point for the curious tourist, the gateway to the areas of Pula and Chia, and for Villasimius and Costa Rei.

Of great historical and cultural significance, the city offers its visitors not only the pleasures of the sea, but also a historic city center, vibrant and waiting to be discovered. Wandering through the alleys of the Castle Quarter to come across breathtaking panoramic view is priceless. Set in a position to dominate the entire town and offers views that give you unique emotions. From here you can see the whole city, the salt pans with the Molentargius Nature Reserve and the Poetto beach, that stretches for miles along a beautiful sea shore .

Framing the beach and the city, there is the Sella del Diavolo (Devil's Saddle), a mountain so named for the unique saddle shape, which, according to tradition, fell to earth during the battle between the angel Gabriel and the Devil.

Not miss, a day of shopping, you can walk through the Marina district, where you can stop and sip a Sardinian wine while listening to live music or enjoy an ice cream in Piazza Yenne, or dine in one of the quaint restaurants that are so hospitable .
