The nuraghe complex of Barumini

The village of Barumini is located in the fertile plains of the Campidano area and its immediate vicinity is the largest and most important nuragic site in the world.

The Nuraghe are stone forts dating back to the Bronze Age that exist only in Sardinia and Su Nuraxi, is the best preserved and largest in existence. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and each year attracts thousands of visitors to its wonderful watchtower and the remains of the ancient nuragic village.

Near Barumini, there is also the plateau (Giara) of Gesturi, a natural oasis that offers a splendid view of the surrounding area where the small native Sardinian horses roam free.
Visiting this area also allows food lovers to try typical Sardinian delicacies in the best restaurants in the vicinity.
